About Me
Hello, I’m Juan. The J in JCSA.
I’m a recent graduate (2021) of the Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design (MHCI+D) program at the University of Washington. Prior to pursuing an education in HCI and design, I earned an MA in Arts Administration at Columbia University, which, during my thesis project, drew out my interest in the intersection of user experiences and technology.
As I’ve grown and learned more about my current field, I’ve come to enjoy nearly all aspects of the design process (as frustrating as some of these might be at times). From research to ideation and prototyping, there’s always something of interest for me. By involving myself in various parts of the process I am better able to see the bigger picture and able to collaborate and communicate better with others. True to this, I am interested in working with and across multiple teams on a project from start to completion.
In my spare time, I dedicate my creative energies to my homebrewing hobby. Here I experiment with different fermentations, ingredients, and beer styles. On occasion, I also design my own labels.
